Professional artists/performers from diverse cultural backgrounds, deliver live, interactive incursions to encourage intercultural dialogue in a fun, flexible way. Our incursions are suitable for Drama, Theatre, Music, English, LOTE, SOSE, Human Movement, Cultural Studies and many more!

Cultural Infusion's Incursion Program is designed to encourage harmony, diversity and inclusiveness by helping students understand other cultures and appreciate other people's belief and lifestyles through lively interaction. Africa - African Santus

From African traditions comes an exciting audience participation program that immerses the audience in rhythm. In African society, music is an indispensable element in social and religious rites. These percussion workshops enable participants of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to experience the pulsating rhythms and instruments of Africa for themselves!

Brazil - Zambia Congo

Developed by African slaves at least 400 years ago as a form of self defence disguised as dance, Capoeira has been handed down through generations in urban Brazilian Bahia. Capoeira is an exciting sport mixing fighting, dancing and music. The emphasis is not on how well you perform, but on how much energy you commit to trying!

Caribbean - Chicken George

A native of Barbados and a drummer/ percussionist in schools for over 30 years, George’s hands-on workshops are filled with drumming, rhythms and an assortment of drums, bell shakers, cowbells and tambourines. Also available as a rhythm infused Brazilian samba performance—guaranteed to get you moving!

Carribean - The Oil Drums

This unique incursion is educational, instructive and entertaining, a perfect complement to the school curriculum. The Oil Drums steelband play uplifting, authentic Trinidadian steelpans (aka steel drums) offering a taste of rhythmic Caribbean musical culture.

China - Grand Master Tom Lo

Bringing good fortune, prosperity and longevity, the Chinese Lion Dance celebrates an ancient culture that is alive and well in Australia today! The lion costume is operated by dancers who combine to form the back and fore-legs of the beast, mimicking the motions by moving the eyes and headpiece.

India - Bollywood Fun and Fitness

Bollywood dancing is enjoying unprecedented popularity due to the Bollywood film industry. Bollywood fuses rap, raga, latin and hip-hop into a lively mixture of folk, classical, global and local traditions. This incursion includes a focus on fitness as well as an understanding of Inidan culture and tradition in a highly energetic interactive program.

India - Tabla Talking

The word "tal" means "clap" or rhythmic cycle, and hand-clapping may be the oldest form of rhythmic accompaniment. The Indian system for maintaining a time cycle and showing stressed and unstressed beats is exciting and fun. Dheeraj is one of the finest young exponents of tabla, and an accomplished soloist and versatile accompanist.

Latin America - Fiesta Tropicale

These energetic performers delight with a colourful rhythmic workshop covering the evolution of Afro-Latin music. Skinned hand drums, wooden sticks and bells meet with trumpets, guitars and piano to create fabulous danceable music from the Caribbean Islands—a place some call paradise! Give the young ones a taste of the glamorous tropic by learning the steps, sounds and dense layering of the different rhythms in the music and dance.

Middle East - Tamara

The veils are open on the exotic Middle East as you learn the expressive dance and story-telling history of this fascinating culture! Tamara is graceful and passionate with over 14 years experience as a teacher, dancer, choreographer and performer. Shimmy and shake your way into Middle Eastern culture with this dynamic bellydance artist.

Polynesia - Rhythms of Polynesia

Polynesian sunset and Mama Tangi perform a kaleidoscope of magnificent song and dance from the South Pacific Ocean. Lose yourself in evocative chanting, frenzied log drumming and the graceful movements of grass skirts and hula swinging. Learn about traditional village affairs, significant cultural celebrations and the Pacific island lifestyle.

Spain - Oye Ritmo

Overflowing with passion, what better way to express authentic Spanish heritage and culture than the Spanish Flamenco dance? The passionate, emotional expression of Spanish culture will be brought to life by Oye Ritmo. Vibrant in flowing costume, Yolanda’s dancing portrays key elements of Flamenco and Spanish folk dance.
