Split your sides as our nationally acclaimed Commedia dell’Arte duo, Mattopancetta, take you on a hilarious journey of improvisation based on 15th Century Italian classical theatre. It’s loud, dramatic, clever comedy with zany characters that will have you laughing for days afterwards! Students will be introduced to the traditional masks of the Commedia dell’ Arte characters including the gullible Venetian merchant, Pantalone, and his greedy servant, Arlecchino.

Mattopancetta’s 50 minute interactive program is suitable for both primary and secondary audiences and includes Italian language that is accessible to beginner Italian students and above.

‘The Greatest Pie in the World’

Pantalone has created the greatest pie in the world for his love interest Columbina. His servant, Arlecchino is instructed to deliver the pie to her. Scaramuccia aka “Scaramouche” causes a stir and the pie goes missing. Typically, ‘zany’s’ desire to eat outweighs their desire to work. Help Arlecchino to find the pie and the girl as they go on a madcap journey.
