The Story of Mu Lan

Mu Lan is the name of a Chinese flower and very popular as a girls name. More than a thousand years ago it was made famous by “Fa Mu Lan”, a courageous woman who became a celebrated warrior. She disguised herself as a man to take her fathers place in the army where she stayed for 10 years. She was even offered an honourable position in the Emperors court, but declined to return to her home.
