Cultural Infusions' Youth programs target culturally diverse young people aged 10 – 25 who are disadvantage due to their economic, social and geographical circumstances through Hip Hop related events, projects, workshops, forums and committees.

Cultural Infusion Youth Programs aim:

• To create opportunities for young people to have positive life experiences with their peers, schools, and within their community

• To engage young people from diverse backgrounds in creative projects that promote diversity, inclusiveness, harmony and well-being

• To provide opportunities for skill development in the arts and music that enhance both educational and professional prospects for young people

• To develop wider and more diverse audiences for youth focused activities, in order to break down negative stereotypes associated with young people within the broader community

These aims are achieved through the following objectives:

• To deliver projects and events that are developed with direct community and youth consultation

• To engage young people actively in participation and decision making for the planning, and delivery of project and events

• To deliver projects and events that create opportunities for young people to perform and showcase their skills and talents to the broader community

An initiative of Cultural Infusion and FReeZA targeting youth in the City of Yarra and its surrounding areas, Relink the Elements provides an opportunity for local youth to engage with professional Hip Hop artists and practitioners in an informal environment, where knowledge of the art can be passed on to the next Hip Hop generation. Hosted by Australian Bboy Champion, Lamaroc with guest artists the aim of the program is to provide basic but essential mentorship of “how to do it and how it’s done” so any legitimate outcome and benefit to the youth comes through the rites of passage and getting out there and ‘just doing it.’

Sonic Elevation

Sonic Elevation is an innovative music and dance exchange program designed for Indigenous youth who live in remote regions of Australia. Within the context of cultural development and preservation, diversity and exchange; contemporary forms of dance and music are taught in an appealing and enticing practical workshop format.Featuring daily workshops in break dancing, MCing, DJing/production, singing, beat boxing and graph the program will build toward a final public performance after each holiday program, showcasing skills learned. Facilitated by some of Australia’s most respected artists, the program utilizes music and the arts as a tool to engage “at risk” youth. By encouraging individuals and groups to participate in multiple exchanges Sonic Elevation develops participant’s skills and performance outcomes over the long term.
